Undersheriff Robert Dawson is in charge of the Monmouth County 9-1-1 Communications Center where he leads a team of over 100 public safety telecommunicators as well as 14 administrative staff members.
The 9-1-1 Communications Center provides a high level of 9-1-1 services to 50 municipalities, dispatches for 25 police departments, 80 fire departments and 39 first aid squads. The Communications Division also operates three mobile command units (Field Comm 1, 2 & 3), that respond to large scale incidents and events throughout Monmouth County.
Undersheriff Dawson has a wealth of experience in law enforcement. He was Chief of Police in Spring Lake from 1996 until 2012 where he rose through the ranks and prior to joining the Spring Lake Police Department he was a police officer in Spring Lake Heights. In addition Undersheriff Dawson is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, a Certified Public Manager, a Certified New Jersey Law Enforcement Executive, past president of the Monmouth County Police Chief’s Association and a member of the International Association of Police Chiefs.
