Mission Statement:

The Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI) is an important component of the County’s Criminal Justice System.  In addition to incarceration we will seek to develop alternatives that do not jeopardize goals of public safety and security.  These include bail, conditional release (R.O.R.) and sentencing such as a community service program as a part of the County Criminal Justice System.  The Division will serve the needs of agencies and individuals, including inmates, staff, law enforcement, courts, attorneys and community organizations.

MCCI will serve the Community as a centrally located reception and processing center for sentenced and un-sentenced inmates.  Security of the facility will be aided by the assignment of inmates to minimum, medium, or maximum security housing units based upon the application of a comprehensive classification and assignment system.

MCCI will employ professionally trained correctional and civilian personnel to maintain an environment that will promote a secure, safe and clean facility in accordance with Federal and State constitutional guidelines, and a maximum degree of safety and protection for the community, staff and inmates.

About MCCI

The Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI) has an occupancy rating of 1,328 inmates. It is among the top ten largest County Correctional facilities in the nation. With it’s objective Classification System for inmates, pod style floor plans and well trained Correctional Staff, MCCI is a safe and secure environment for all those committed to us by the courts.

Inmates receive excellent health care, quality meals, and liberal time out of their cells to attend religious, educational, and social programs, all designed to assist the inmates and provide them with life skills. They spend their recreation out doors, and are provided an option to exercise indoors. They have weekly access to a Law Library, so that they may research their cases. Visitation, contact and non-contact are allowed with some limitations. They receive visits from Attorneys and Law Enforcement agencies in private interview rooms.

The County also contracts with other agencies and jurisdictions to maximize the use of our bed space.

Monmouth County Correctional Institution is American Corrections Association (ACA) and National Commission Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) accredited, two of the six nationally recognized accreditations of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office.
