Undersheriff Michael W. Donovan Jr. runs the law enforcement division of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office. Under his command, Undersheriff Donovan is in charge of 112 sworn law enforcement personnel and 26 civilian employees.
The Division consists of an Administration Section, Special Services Bureau, Training Bureau, Warrant/Fugitive Section, a Criminal Investigation Bureau, a Court Operations and Satellite Security Section, a Civil Process Bureau, a Canine Unit, a Records Bureau, and a Transportation/Detention Bureau , which oversees the implementation of youth detention transportation services to Middlesex County.
Undersheriff Donovan has more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement. He spent 23 years at the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office retiring as a lieutenant and 7 years with the Neptune City Police Department. While at the prosecutor’s office, Undersheriff Donovan was responsible for the investigations of major crimes, internal affairs, narcotic law violations as well as other violations of the criminal justice system.
Undersheriff Donovan received his Bachelor of Science degree from Thomas Edison State College in Administration of Justice and has attended the prestigious Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy.
