MAN ARRESTED AFTER THEATENING CALL

A man from Keansburg is in custody after Monmouth County Sheriff’s Officers and detectives from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office arrested Robert Malinowski and charged him with false public alarm.

The investigation began after Middletown Police received a 9-1-1 call at 10:05AM, Thursday. Malinowski, 22, told a Middletown dispatcher that there was going to be a shooting spree at the Monmouth County Courthouse. While security was increased in and around the facility, sheriff’s officers, detectives from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Keansburg and Middletown Police worked to apprehend the suspect. “We take each and every threat seriously,” said Sheriff Shaun Golden. “In the wake of the recent tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, people are even more sensitive. It’s our duty to make certain that law enforcement remains on high alert to ensure public safety.”

The call was traced back to the Keansburg area, and through the investigation it was determined that Malinowski made the 9-1-1 call from his father’s cell phone.

Malinowski is being processed at the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office and will be transferred to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution. “I commend all of the officers involved for their exceptional police work,” said Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni. “This arrest sends a clear message that this type of criminal activity will not be tolerated.”
