K-9 Demonstrations – Sheriff’s Officer/K-9 teams provide an informative session on law enforcement canine training and, with their canine partner, demonstrate the capabilities of that specially trained canine team which, depending on availability on the date requested, may be a narcotics detection team, an explosive detection team, a patrol canine team or a bloodhound tracking team.
The Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit presently consists of nine K-9’s with eight handlers. There are four explosive detection teams, two are cross-trained in patrol, two narcotic teams and three tracking K9’s :
