A man from Neptune Township is behind bars after three Monmouth County Sheriff’s Officers along with members of the Neptune Township Police Department arrested him on five warrants for violation of probation, all drug related. Tyshawn Downey, 28, was arrested at 1130 Heck Avenue, Friday morning after an extensive investigation led sheriff’s officers to that location. Downey was wanted for violation of probation on four warrants for possession of a controlled dangerous substance and one warrant for the manufacturing and distribution of cocaine. In addition to the 5 criminal warrants, Downey was charged with possession of a handgun and certain persons not to possess a handgun, after a 9 mm and 35 rounds of ammunition were found at the home on Heck Avenue.

“I commend all of the officers involved in the arrest,” said Acting Sheriff Shaun Golden. “Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Neptune Township Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office, one more fugitive and handgun are off the street.”

Sharonda Rice who also was present at the home was charged with tampering with evidence and obstruction of justice.
