SHERIFF’S OFFICE ON HEIGHTENED ALERT FOR 911 ANNIVERSARY

The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office is, and will remain, on heightened alert in preparation for the anniversary of the September 11th attacks. “The tenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks is a profound day of remembrance for our country,” said Sheriff Shaun Golden. “In the wake of the recent terror threat, our law enforcement division is working closely with local law enforcement agencies in taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of the people who live in Monmouth County, as well as those who will be visiting.”

The law enforcement division will be stepping up and supplementing local police patrols at various infrastructures throughout Monmouth County, which include ferry terminals, water treatment plants and major bus and train stations. The sheriff’s office K-9 unit is on alert and will be present at ferry terminals and train stations during departure times into New York City on Sunday. In addition, K-9 teams will be sweeping major 9-1-1 remembrance ceremonies throughout the weekend as requested.

The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office asks that people remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the local authorities.
