SHERIFF’S OFFICE V.I.S.C.O.M.P ACADEMY GRADUATES ELEVEN VOLUNTEERS

Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden is pleased to announce that the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office had eleven volunteers successfully complete the VISCOMP (Volunteers In Sheriff’s COMmunity Programs) Academy held at the Monmouth County Police Academy on four consecutive Thursday evenings from 6 PM until 9 PM each session. VISCOMP Volunteers assist the sheriff’s office in conducting community safety programs throughout the year. Instruction included the history of the Office of Sheriff, an overview of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office, tour of the Monmouth County Communications Center, certification courses in Basic First Aid and CPR, an overview of Sheriff’s Office programs in which volunteers are an integral part, and a preview of the Sheriff’s Office soon to be released program, “Lock Your Meds,” a program on adult medication control and safety.

New volunteers included Charles Theodora, Ocean; George Fraser, Colts Neck; Deborah Mikkelson, Howell; Miriam Peluso, Wall; Joseph Williams, Middletown; and Vincent Bonica, Manalapan. Veteran volunteers taking recertification included Carol and Keith Casey, Freehold; Richard Eisenbeis, Matawan; Debra Clayton, Oceanport; and Barbara Stier, Marlboro.

Veteran Volunteer, Rich Eisenbeis said, “The VISCOMP program offers an opportunity to give back to the community and helps keep Monmouth County one of the ten best places to live in the country.” Sheriff Shaun Golden, who presented the graduates their certificates, staff shirts and ID cards at the graduation ceremony on May 26th, said, “In this time of doing more with less, the VISCOMP volunteers have enabled us to continue our community safety education programs by donating over 900 hours of volunteer service with the Sheriff’s Office since the program was started in 2009.”

Volunteers assist in conducting the Sheriff’s Office various photo ID programs including Youth ID, Ident-Adult, Medical Alert and Handicapped ID cards, 9-1-1 educational programs for children and adults, and assist at Sheriff’s Office displays and presentations.
